Plasma Skin Tightening

Fibroblast Plasma Skin Tightening

Fibroblast Plasma Skin Tightening is a cosmetic treatment that uses plasma, an ionized gas, to non-surgically tighten skin. A relatively new innovation in the beauty industry in North America, Fibroblast Skin Tightening has been used for a number of years in Europe. This minimally invasive procedure is often described as “soft surgery” as the treatment delivers amazing results without the use of a scalpel, stitch, or bandage and is much more affordable and less risk than surgery while being highly effective at treating fine lines, crow’s feet, wrinkles, hooded eyes, reducing excess lower eyelid skin, turkey neck and so much more. Low risk, minimal downtime and more affordable then surgery.

MERAKI SKIN IS EXCITED TO BE THE FIRST SKINCARE PRACTICE IN THIS AREA TO OFFER PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING.

At Meraki Skin, we stay on top of cutting-edge technology so we can provide our clients the best skincare treatments and services possible. Carol Chabot, owner and esthetician is professionally trained and certified in Plasma Skin Tightening and is excited to be the first skin care practice in this area to offer this breakthrough treatment.

Along with reducing fine lines and wrinkles, this advanced procedure helps your skin to revive natural levels of the collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fibronectin essential for fresh, youthful skin.

Known for its success with non-surgical eye lift, wrinkle reduction, tummy tightening and so much more, the Plasma Skin Tightening Treatment is the only non-invasive cosmetic treatment to use electrical arcing to eliminate excess skin, giving you a plasma facelift and neck lift. The extremely accurate device works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its metal tip and the skin (targeting only the epidermis layer). An electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. The tissue retraction and tightening gives results that are comparable to invasive surgery by physically reducing the volume of skin in the surrounding area. The skin around the spot tightens instantly, pulling the cells closer together.

It’s also a great alternative to Botox and fillers building collagen and elasticity naturally without toxins and chemicals. The area is gently traumatized with a device causing small circular scabs that, created in specially designed patterns, tightens the skin. As it is known when we get scabs on other areas of the body that as it heals around the scab the new skin becomes tight, these are your fibroblast cells merging together and tightening as part of your natural wound healing and is effective in tightening the skin as it is healing.

Frequenty Asked Questions

How long does plasma skin tightening treatment last?

Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of Fibroblast Plasma Treatment are not entirely permanent as it does not stop further aging. The positive results should last you years depending on the area treated. The positive effects of the procedure will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen by the 12th week as the skin has had time to go through a full regenerative cycle. This is dependent on age and each individual’s overall healing abilities, on the specific area being treated, the skin’s laxity, and individual response to treatment. Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting as long as they can, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure. For some, an additional treatment may be required after 12 weeks for maximum results.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required will vary according to the condition being treated, skin's laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 12 weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to get better results. Appointments must be spaced out by 12 weeks.

What to expect – side effects and treatments

Plasma Skin Tightening has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature. Still the majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-10 days following treatment. ie swelling, scab crustations.

There will be some tiny brown marks that have the appearance of minor scabbing, which are carbon crusts, but in 5-10 days these will flake away, revealing new pink skin beneath. Some swelling will be seen (especially in cases of eyelid treatment), but it is likely to only last 3-5 days at most. Swelling in the eye area is to be expected for a few days following an upper eyelid treatment. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyper-pigmentation, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician. It is vital to allow those small scabs to come off without picking. Makeup or other cosmetic products other than the healing gel provided should not be applied over the area until the scabs have dislodged.

Who cannot have plasma skin tightening?

As with the majority of cosmetic procedures, Plasma Skin Tightening should not be used on women who are pregnant or breast feeding. Although some darker skin types are suitable for the soft surgery procedure, it is not advised for those with very dark skin (skin type will be determined at consultation). This is because there is a higher risk of hyper-pigmentation (dark spots) or hypo-pigmentation (light spots) following treatment.

Day of Treatment

On the treatment day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area.

For eyelid procedures no contacts can be worn during the procedure and remove all lash extensions and do not replace until skin is healed post 12 weeks.

A numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for up to 20-40 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the plasma tip, spaced closely together. You may feel some heat in the treatment area.

Immediately after treatment the area will be red and mildly swollen with small scab crustations and discoloration.  You may experience a sensation similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The scab crustations/discoloration should resolve within 5 -10 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results may be seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 12 weeks. Following treatment you will be given thorough aftercare instructions to ensure that you see the best results. A bottle of aftercare serum is required for purchase after the treatment. The majority of people are safe to drive following their Plasma Skin Tightening procedure as swelling does not set in until later that day.
