A full night’s sleep is one of the biggest keys to glowy, healthy skin while lack of sleep may be the quickest way to a dull looking complexion. The impact sleep has on the integumentary system is big because our bodies / systems go into repair mode while we are sleeping. The skin not only makes new collagen while we sleep, but the increased blood flow to our skin produces growth hormones which repairs cells damaged by sun exposure, poor diet, environmental toxins.

In a nutshell, there should be a difference with what your skin care products promote during the day and at night because your skin does two very different things at these times. During the day, your skin’s processes are focused on protection – makes sense, right? Any daytime moisturizer worth it’s weight in gold will have between a 30 and 50 SPF using zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as it’s SPF. In today’s day and age, you should have that SPF built right into your moisturizer. At night, your skin goes into repair mode so your night time moisturizer’s ingredients should be focused on repairing and healing the epidermal cells that have suffered from the day’s oxidative damage.
